Course Details

DescriptionWeek 1. Introductory meeting. Participants will discuss what genres they like to read and their favourite books. Week 2. 1st section Week 3. 2nd section Week 4. 3rd section Week 5. 4th section Week 6. 5th section Week 7. 6th section (to end of book) Week 8. Wrap up meeting
RequirementsWillingness to read a book in sections, over an 8 week period. Each week participants will read a section from a long book (500 plus pages).
ObjectivesTo enhance the attendee’s enjoyment of reading.
Teaching ProcessEach sessions will be one hour long. The discussion will open with a round table where everyone gives brief comments on their experience with the reading. After that a facilitated discussion will take place with questions to prompt new avenues of discovery.

Additional Costs or InformationNo costs—Book club kits of 10 titles will be provided by the library. If short stories are on the agenda, copies will be made for participants.

Minerva has a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from Mount Allison University and 19 years experience working in the PEI Public Library System. Has worked at Summerside Rotary Library, Confederation Centre Public Library and Cornwall Public Library. Enjoys providing Reader’s advice and hosting bookclubs.
