Course Details

DescriptionHave you ever wanted to see a 3D printer in action? Now’s your chance! This course will offer an introduction to the exciting world of 3D printing and design. Students will get an overview of different 3D printing technologies and how they are used in the real world as well as hands on experience working with the programs and resources we use to run the Library’s 3D printer. We will cover the basics including: where to find printable files, preparing and printing those files once you find them, and how to access Robertson Library’s 3D printing service. Students will also learn how to create their own printable designs using Makerbot’s free Tinkercad software and we’ll focus on designing specifically for 3D printing.
RequirementsStudents will need to be comfortable using a computer and the internet. No prior experience with 3D printing or 3D design is required.

Keltie MacPhail has been working as a Library Technician at UPEI’s Robertson Library since 2016, working primarily in the Library’s Cataloging and Circulation Services unit.
Over the past year Keltie has worked to provide support and training for the Library’s 3D printer.
