Course Details |
Description | This introductory course provides an overview of bidding, play and defense. It is designed for individuals with no bridge experience. A background in playing other card games would be beneficial. The eight sessions will be broken down into the following general areas:
1. Introduction, the language of bidding, hand valuation
2. The bidding ladder, responses, defense
3. No Trump opening bids and responses
4. Major suit opening bids and responses
5. Minor suit opening bids and responses
6. Rebids by opener
7. Rebids by responder
Time permitting transfers to a No Trump opener and Stayman will be added.

Objectives | By the end of the course the student will be able to successfully communicate with their partner and play a game of Bridge. The course will provide a foundation for future learning of more advanced concepts. The course will focus on enjoyment of the game at whatever level you wish to play. |
Teaching Process | Explanation of concepts, use of visual charts, pre dealt hands and coded cards. Student participation and group problem solving. Practice play |
