Island Way of Life through Industries (Queens County)

The Seniors College of PEI is very pleased to present the "Island Way of Life through Industries Series" for the first time. This is a series of one-day sessions where the history and development of various Island Industries are shared. Join us in the diverse presentations from the following: Alan Buchanan - Alan will start the Industry series by sharing some witty stories and history on the Islands Way of Life and Culture BioVectra - have you ever been curious about what BioVectra is all about - right here on PEI!! BIOVECTRA is a North American CDMO specializing in clinical-to-commercial scale production capabilities for Biologics, Synthetic small molecules, pDNA and mRNA, Highly potent APIs, and Bioreagents. Dennis McNally - Join Dennis as he talks about his small family-run oyster growing operation - Red Beard Oysters Roland MacDonald - Roland will share his stories on the local bee industry. From the establishment of hives to the production of honey, you will be informed. Ray Keenan - Ray will talk about how to produce a top-quality product specializing in potatoes. Ray is from Rolo Bay Holdings which is the largest agriculture entity in Eastern Prince Edward Island. Bruce MacNaughton - Bruce will join us to share his vision to create a food destination with integrity and flavor and how he got there in the business world. Bruce is the past owner of the Island Preserve Company here in PEI. Matthew Jelly - a small-town mayor and local entrepreneur will present his thoughts and perspectives on current challenges facing the tourism industry. Jermey Heartz - A Business Development Officer with Innovation PEI who will focus his talk on the entrepreneurial support ecosystem that exists to support Island businesses.
