Dance - Argentine Tango (Queens County)

Discover the beauty and culture of Argentine tango dancing in this introductory course designed for beginner seniors. We will explore the basics of the tango walk, the embrace, lead and follow techniques, and the musicality and etiquette of the social dance floor (milonga).

RequirementsAn interest in learning the tango and exploring its rich cultural tradition is all that is required. No prior dance experience or partner is necessary! Wear shoes with flexible, smooth soles to allow for ease of movement on the dance floor.
ObjectivesGain confidence while experiencing joy through music and movement. Tango dancing improves balance, posture and flexibility while engaging in low-impact exercise.

Shirley has been an enthusiastic student of the tango for the past seven years. From her very first class, she fell in love with this beautiful dance. Since 2023, she has been travelling to Quebec and Nova Scotia to further her study and to participate in tango parties called milongas.
